Parisian trade shows at the start of the year

The capital bids a reluctant farewell to the festive season and prepares to warmly welcome the first trade shows of the year, which you can discover during your stay at the Hotel Pavillon Bastille. Lifestyle fashions and trends for the home are the subject at Maison & Objet. If your interest is in jewellery you should check out Bijorhca, and why not pursue your discovery of the latest clothing trends with Paris Fashion Week? Then you can end the month with more festivities as Paris invites you to celebrate the Chinese New Year starting January 28th.

Discover the latest trends through trade fairs

During your stay at the Hotel Pavillon Bastille you can visit one of the various world-class trade shows that Paris hosts during January. The first, Maison & Objet, takes place at the Exhibition Centre in Villepinte between January 20th and 24th. Three sectors are presented to visitors: home and interior decoration; objects; and current influences. A plethora of exhibitors will be in attendance to represent the world of design, show you their latest creations and answer your questions. If you are an industry professional you will be able to attend a selection of conferences. Maison & Objet allows you to discover the different ways to make your home even more appealing: fragrances, crafts, furniture, accessories...

Lovers of jewellery will gather at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition centre from January 20th to 23rd when Bijorhca presents the latest in the field of fine fashion jewellery and watches. More than 450 exhibitors and brands await and it’s a golden opportunity to preview the new collections and spot new trends.

Paris Fashion Week

As the number one event for fashion lovers, Paris Fashion Week offers various events at venues throughout the capital. Men’s fashions will be first in the spotlight from January 18th to 22nd as the leading designers parade their latest creations along the catwalk. Following hot on the heels of the guys it’s the turn of the Salon Haute Couture, which runs from January 22nd to 26th and presents the biggest names in fashion as well as young stylists who will be the stars of the future. More than 100 parades take place in different locations. And even if these are kept secret until the last moment, we can whisper some to you so you won’t be caught unprepared: the Grand Palais, the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the schools of Parisian designers.

An Oriental atmosphere

Following your busy round of the trade fairs it’s time to relax with some fun-filled festivities, Asian-style! From January 28th Paris celebrates the Chinese New Year. Many parades featuring colourful costumes and traditional music and dancing are planned. The best known of these takes place in the 13th arrondissement. Fearsome dragons and lively lions take possession of the streets in an amazing and beautiful spectacle. The parade begins at approximately 13:00 on the Avenue d'Ivry. You can take a break at the arrondissement’s town hall, which offers various activities. Another parade runs from the Place de la Republique to the Rue Turbigo, while festivities begin in the Place Gambetta (20th) from 10:30. The town hall of the 11th arrondissement offers martial arts demonstrations. In the 3rd you are invited to enjoy exhibitions and concerts of traditional Asian music.
